Chilly Peak was just that …

Chilly!

The ” last” blast of winter, perhaps? Yesterday, the temperatures dropped about 30 degrees, and we had about a three hour snow flurry. Nothing accumulated, but Chilly Peak was supposed to get around 4″. Carolyn and I met at 7 am at the trailhead, and it was 21 degrees. After double checking that we had all the right gear, we headed up. Along the way, we saw some sad flowers that apparently didn’t get the hard freeze memo!

Chilly Peak is a great training peak – about 2900 ft of elevation and 9 miles round-trip. It was a bit icy in places, but we made decent time, even with a break at the top we were under 5 hours.

And me, with my eyes closed.  Totally normal!

It was a great hike and other than cold hands on the summit, we made great time and enjoyed a beautiful day.
