A Few Yard Projects

My daylillies seemed to have survived the fact they never went dormant this winter and the hard frost we had a couple of days ago. They look to be on track to bloom about a month early.

With the snowpack at about 12% of normal, this looks to be the worst water year since we moved here. Probably won’t be planting too much this year, no hanging baskets on the deck and we filled in the waterfall with rocks. Just doing our part!

Spring onions and radishes.
Kale and cabbage ready to be put in.
Filled in the waterfall.

The rest of the projects today are really Alison’s science projects 😄 – some successful,  some we aren’t sure yet!

New reeds for the Mason and Leafcutter Bees.
This is from a  Granny Smith apple. Last year, I cut one open to eat, and there was a sprouted seed inside the core, so I planted it. Crazy!
A “volunteer” Blue Spruce that I dug out of the lawn plus a Purple Columbine that I grew from seeds that were from my yard in Michigan. And that’s how invasive, non- native plants end up everywhere – HAHA!
Phlox that I dumped out of the hanging baskets a couple of years ago – another invasion, purple, of course!
