Back in Bellevue … and off to Ocean Shores

I was able to sneak in a trip up to see Mom and was also able to book a cabin at Iron Springs for a couple of days so we could spend some time at the ocean. We planned on it raining, so we had all the appropriate rain gear ready! When I arrived,  Mom was packed and ready to go.

Traditional Irish Stew
A ” must have” – Irish Coffee
Mom had the Shepherd’s Pie.

Pure coincidence in that we ended up at an Irish Pub for lunch on St. Patrick’s Day! They had a guy that was from Winthrop,WA doing folk ballads and some history lessons. The food was great and of course, we had to have some Irish Coffee!

We got to our cabin, looked at the movie list and settled in. The cabin was well furnished and maintained and right at the cliff edge for an amazing beach view. We each had our own bedroom.

The next morning, I took a hike on the beach – it was foggy and sprinkling, so not much as far as views past the waves hitting the shore.

Random beach crap.
This plastic bottle had been in the ocean for a long time as it had mollusks growing off it.
The entire beach was purple from the Velella.
From Wikipedia – the Velella are an ocean surface community of little sail- like creatures that were disturbed by high winds and stranded on the beach … who knew?
Tons of Bald Eagles – hard to see in the photo but both adults and sub-adults.

Requisite Sea Lion carcass – Bald Eagles were feeding on this before I disturbed them!

When I got back to the cabin, Mom had put together a fun Easter basket full of goodies (start diabetes count.)

Apparently my phone detected that I was being tracked due to proximity of an Apple Air Tag on Mom’s keys … Nice …
Pondering putting a Peeps in the microwave to show Mom that they blow up to the size of a football. Dinner was at Ocean Crest Resort – excellent choice!
